Open Dawah phase started
. Invited close and some extended family members.
. Response was not that encouraging, initial reaction was ignorance
. Abu Lahab opposed badly.
. Second wave of opposition: Ridicules propaganda, mild oppression on weak Muslims
. Very few accepted the message among chiefs or high status people of Quresh
. Abu Lahab forced his 2 sons to break engagement from 2 daughters (Ruqayah and Um Kulsum) of Rasul Allah SAW. Abu Lahab sons were offered to be married with other women of their choice.
. Amr Bin Aas, son-in-law of Rasul Allah SAW, husband of Zianab RA was also forced to divorce her, but he refused and showed good morals.
. Marriage of Ruqqayah RA with Usman RA
Why opposition and persecution?
. Towheed itself has the message for change لآ اِلَهَ اِلّا اللهُ
. This Message of Towheed challenges the Taghoot.
. Change is opposed by those who has vested interests in the system of Taghoot and try to keep the status quo.
. Struggle starts in such an environment.
. Social pressure and forcing family to feel to consequences of the struggle.
